Prices are against Kuwaiti Citizens
and the Solution is Free and Easy
If the government claims it doesn’t intervene in private housing real estate prices based on the principles of “owner’s freedom to manage their property” and “market freedom” in setting prices according to supply and demand, it has free measures that can significantly limit the astronomical prices affecting Kuwaiti citizens’ pockets and all barriers.
It has the power to enforce its laws that specify the use of private housing areas for single-family residences, which automatically makes any non-single-family residential use a violation of explicit regulations.
This violation now occurs openly and publicly, requiring neither house inspections nor testimony of four witnesses.
While we await the implementation of the vacant land law that will “seize” multiple current properties, preventing new ones is easier. The government has the authority to prohibit one person from owning multiple private housing units from a certain date and for a specific period until the price and housing crisis is resolved.
These are steps that only the government has the “freedom” to impose, and no one can prevent them
The government also has the power to modify the unprecedented building specifications and ratios in urban planning, which automatically transform single-family housing into multi-family housing (investment residential building!).
This also increases population density beyond the design, capacity, and services of the areas.

Claims that these strange ratios and specifications are for “children’s apartments” have been proven over years, experiments, and violations that they were not for that purpose (children living in their father’s house has existed since ancient times and didn’t need legislation then violation).
These are steps that only the government has the “freedom” to impose, and no one can prevent them.
There is also no “infringement” on non-existent properties against an urgent public interest.
As for why there’s “freedom” to violate explicit regulations and law in private housing, and why prices are allowed to reach impossible astronomical levels, while the same freedom is difficult for the government, this is one of Kuwait’s eternal mysteries that even the blue flies couldn’t trace to its source.
Note: The insistence that the “”supply and demand mechanism alone is the best and most appropriate mechanism for determining value and prices, we believe, oversimplifies matters and undermines intelligence, which we may address in detail in the future.
