Living Box

This post is also available in: العربية

A Kuwaiti’s lifestyle options at home are limited despite the large size and high cost.

It’s mostly just a place for sleeping and necessities.

A reception station for passing guests like Halley’s Comet.

The guests disappear, and dust returns for the rest of the years.

Homes like desert tents or traveler’s rest stops.

Much is missing in this box.

No space for physical and spiritual activities in the open air.

No windows to contemplate the moonlight or hear the rustling of tree leaves.

No space to pursue hobbies that nourish the spirit and soul and foster creativity.

No space for playing and recreation under the protection of family and walls.

No space to build social memories outside four walls.

One must go out for a “change of scenery”.

Must visit cafes and go shopping, spending money for children to enjoy themselves.

The Kuwaiti house is just a cold box.

You enter and exit from one cold box to another, waiting for the final box of the afterlife.

It’s more like a living refrigerator or a laboratory bacteria farm.

Thanks to Kuwait Municipality, Municipal Council, and associates for this frozen life 🥶
